Mike Scorzelli

Mike Scorzelli’s interest in racing started in an unconventional way. He begin simulated racing in 2000. He quickly began winning championships locally leading him to Nationals. He placed 7th in the Nation after competing in Charlotte, North Carolina. He continued simulated racing thru 2002. In 2002 Mike built and raced a dirt enduro car. Mike worked diligently to learn as much as he could about building a car and the skill of racing. He attributes much of his knowledge to the patience and generosity of fellow racers. He then went on to build a dirt street stock car from scratch and raced through out the 2003 and 2004 season. He came out running strong in 2005 with a new Groski engine and a stronger knowledge of the racing world and some experience now under his belt. He began winning heat races and had some hard fought top finishes.

Mike continued to challenge himself in 2006 when he took a totally new and different direction. He moved to an Asphalt Super Stock car and raced at the fast 6/10th of a mile track, Oswego Speedway. Right out of the box he often finished in the top ten. He continued to push himself and the car to go on to finish the season 6th in points with a heat race win and several top five finishes.

After Oswego dropped the full fender Super Stock class Mike had to search out a new direction for his passion. This search led him to the high bank 5/8th Asphalt track Thompson Speedway in Connecticut. With this big change of direction and new challenges 2007 was a tuff year. The highlight was a 3rd place finish in the season ending World Series race. So even with all the struggles it ended up being a successful season. Mike continued to let his passion fuel him to learn and drink up all he could about racing. He headed into 2008 with optimism and a desire to learn all he could about racing a Late Model at high speeds.

2008 proved to be a challenging year with a substantial amount of engine and handling issues. Once again the highlight of the year came with a 7th place finish at the renowned World Series at Thompson Speedway.

Now with a wealth of information and experience Mike set out to rebuild his car from the ground up through out the 2008 winter. Paying attention to every detail and with the help from a lot of people the ca

r really took shape inside and out. The new car rolled off the trailer at the first practice at Thompson Speedway a far superior car to the previous seasons. Mike’s goal for 2009 was to finish in the Top Ten of his division and we are thrilled he finished 8th.

2010 Mike drove two cars weekly. One at Thompson Speedway in Conneticut where he got his first win and several top five finishes. The second car he raced weekly in his back yard at Albany- Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY where he had four wins, many top fives and finished 5th for the year in points.

In 2011 Mike had a great year at Thompson International Speedway with a second win and many top fives. He finised the year 3rd in points. At Albany Saratoga Speedway out of four starts, he had one win and then left to concentrate on Thompson. After the points race he entered the Turkey Derby at Walll Speedway in NJ where he had a respectable 3rd place finish.

2012 was a great year!! Mike won three races. Two of them back to back and seldom finished out of the top five.  He was second in points for the year when he left Thompson to run some special shows .The  DAV at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk Mass. where he finished 9th in the 100 lap Pro- Stock race.  Next stop was the 50 lap Fall Brawl at Shangra ~ La 2 where he finished 4th! Then onto the NELMA Race at Mountain Speedway in Pennsylvania and finished the year at the Turkey Derby at Wall.

Then set his sites on a new challenge making Stafford Motor Speedway his new home track for 2013. With a new track came a new car built from BFR Chasis and new engine from Crazy Js Race Engines. His hopes for the 2013 year is to learn the track, his new car and be competitve. With Mike’s strong commitment to racing, passion, desire and drive it looks to be a promising season. Mike’s goal is to get some podium finishes and end the year top ten in points.
